Awesome Mesa Boogie Son of Boogie amp! This thing snorts - not quite the Mark I reissue it was touted to be, this thing reminds me of what the AB165 Bassman wants to be when it grows up.
Great interactivity between controls, and very sweet useable sounds from the two channel volumes - despite what the internet says, I was able to successfully use this amp with an A/B box to channel switch. Channel 1 is gain - a solid Marshall honk, while channel 2 is more clean - more in line with the AB763 tones of the 60's.
Amp is housed in an original Mark cab, though not sure if it’s original to the amp. Blue tolex looks to be a replacement, as does the grill cloth. Tear in the grill, cosmetic blems for a 40+ year old amp. YouTube clip below of actual amp played live - used a Gibson Flying V with Dr. Vintage pickups from Wolftone.
Comes with a well-broken-in Eminence Alpha 12A; not quite the EVM that Marks shipped with, a similar neutral PA style speaker with a lower sensitivity to make this much more useable at gigs. And sounds great! Clean bill of health!
