Original-flavor DB 750. More headroom than you can fathom, incredible clarity and projection, and I hardly ever turned the master control past 9 o'clock, even at rock gigs. The transformer in this thing is the size of a small birthday cake and you could use it as a boat anchor. The EQ controls are musical and I'd get complements from the sound guy almost every time. "The direct out is incredible -- we heard every note." After my first gig with it a friend told me to pitch my old amp into a lake.
This one did some regional tours with me, embedded in a big rack with extra support under it. The rack tabs are slightly bent, but it mounts perfectly well and doesn't wiggle in the slightest. I have no idea how anybody bent them to start with, it's so solid. There are some adhesive marks on top where I had stompboxes in the effects loop.
I also used it for studio work because the preamp, EQ, and DI are incredible. I had it hooked up to an Ampeg 810 in an isolated room and I remember the engineer asking "where's the dirt?" as he casually turned the master control higher and higher. The sound was crystal-clear the whole way up. I stopped him before he maxed it and I wonder if the cones would have blown clear out of the cab.
I'm very sad to see it go, but I'm a bedroom player now and this amp has literally 100x more power than I can possibly use. It deserves to be in service, bringing out the absolute best in another player.
