Dumble Overdrive Special Amplifier
Dumble amplifiers are virtually impossible to acquire with wait times of over a decade and only 300 in existence today, it not only requires an investment of time and capital, but a great deal of patience. Most pieces are out of circulation created for and used by professionals such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and many others or kept in private collections, so to find one is extremely rare.
Alexander “Howard” Dumble is the elusive genius and creator of each special order amplifier. Being the son of an engineer with a natural gift for electrical creations, he began at a young age to build radios and amplifiers, which has evolved over the past four decades into being a true genius of sound creation.
As with most rare and quality hand crafted creations, each amp is unique to varying degrees, but all of them are nothing short of genius in design, engineering and circuitry not to mention durability. Over four decades, there have been many who have tried to reproduce the signature Dumble sound, but the highly guarded trade secrets have remained intact evidenced by the epoxy that covers the circuitry design on each amp ensuring that the Dumble sound remains a coveted secret that only a chosen few get to enjoy.
LBDM is proud to present the signature model for Dumble which Guitar Player Magazine listed at the #1 most expensive vintage amp in the world, The Dumble Overdrive Special serial #094. There is no denying that every once in a while a vintage piece comes along that is not only renowned for its creation year, the importance of its mark on history or the name of the creator, but that it has that special “something”. A resonance that could never fully be planned, but when all of the right components come together, in the perfect way, magic is created. #094 is magic with astonishing response, sustain and clarity. Some say it is lonely at the top, but with this amp who cares. You will be floating on clouds of luscious tones forever.
