This is the Yamaha SD-098 Snare Drum. This drum is 14" x 8 " (diameter x depth) in the famous Cobalt Blue finish. This drum is in absolute mint condition with the serial number PI-3616. That would date this drum as 1989 February. I'm the second owner and the original owner had this drum just sitting around as it seemed since 1989. I cleaned up the drum and then installed the vintage Gretsch muffler. The extended snare wires is what came with the drum when I bought it. This drum has been just sitting around in a case with me since I bought it. I never really played it except after its' cleaning and when after I place the heads on it. Long story short, this drum is in basically new condition. The only blemish (if you want to call it that) is when I drilled the holes for the muffler, some small areas splintered just ever so slightly. I touched up the area with a black paint and installed the muffler. Essentially you can't even tell and it does not affect the drum whatsoever. I typically replace the o-rings on these older Yamaha drums but I examined (not recently) one or two of the lugs and opted not to replace the o-rings at that time.
