Made to Order JLM Audio MAC Stereo Opto Comp

The MAC opto comp is JLM Audio's take on building a pair of opto comps similar to the teletronix LA3A but with the warmth and fatness of the LA2A.  Made even more versatile with multiple compression ratios, multiple internal sidechain HPF values, fast/slow attack options, and of course a link function.  It utilizes 2 of their proprietary JLM 99v discrete op amps per channel and a massive output transformer to achieve that warmth and fatness.

These compressors are some of our favorite compressors for tracking purposes.  They remain quite transparent even during 20+ dB of gain reduction while in 3:1 mode.  If you require a less subtle approach to compression then just increase the ratio for a slightly different time constant and pull the threshold knob out for a slower attack.  It is easy to dial in the right characteristics with the flips of two switches.   

JLM Audio has fast become a notable entry in the DIY community for their affordable, yet incredibly useful audio gear.  We have sold several of their LA500A compressors before, in fact they were the first compressors that Audibility Recording ever put together.  These MAC stereo opto compressors are the big brother version of those units.  Housed in a sleek 1RU chassis and powered by a switching power supply (capable of accepting all mains AC voltages) no 500 series rack is necessary.
