MUSICAID CLAP TRAP (the original Clap Trap)
This is a now a very rare piece of gear. This is the original analogue Clap Trap made by Musicaid (later to become Simmons).
I originally purchased it from Simmons around 1982-83 after hearing it being used by Killing Joke on "Follow the Leader"... and then many many other 80's bands. It was basically the first ever sort of drum machine that you could buy albeit just a "CLAP".
The functions of the machine are pretty obvious by looking at the top surface. For a demo search for Dr Mix "Simmons Clap Trap In Action" on YouTube.
This is old and is certainly showing many signs of being used and old. There is even rust on the chassis. I can't pretend to disguise it's worn look. However it has just been fully serviced by Cyberwave EMS (see receipt in photos) and is fully working in all aspects including the buttons, sliders and lights. Since the photos have been taken I have put some rubber feet on it base that matched as well as possible the original rubber feet.
Yes, it's a lot of money for something that doesn't look as pristine as it could BUT you could always buy the nicer looking one on REVERB!
