Near-mint, lovely vintage handmade classical guitar built by the late George Smith. Smith lived and built guitars in Portland, Oregon. One of the local musicians who played (and recorded) George Smith's guitars is David Franzen. You can hear Mr. Franzen play a George Smith in the attached youtube video. Note: the video is profiling another George Smith guitar, not the one in this listing.
The soundboard features gorgeous, tight grain European spruce, and is braced in the style of Miguel Rodriguez of Madrid, Spain. The guitar is wonderfully resonant, and well balanced across all strings, with good sustain and tonal color.
The soundboard has one repaired and cleated hairline crack running from the bridge, near low-E, toward the tailblock. The repair is well executed and is stable; only visible at certain angles as a slightly darker line.
