Up for sale is a stunning Martin 5-18 from 1951. This thing plays easy and is a beauty to behold. It is all original as far as I can tell. The Brazilian fretboard is unlike any other I’ve ever seen, the pictures don’t do it justice. All bracing inside is clean and neat. The bone nut looks to be original and works great. There is a non-original compensated bone saddle on it currently. Comes with a nice Martin hardshell case that fits snug. Original Brazilian rosewood bridge. Original pick guard. Beautiful wide-grained spruce top. Lots of fret life left. Original tuners that work well. No cracks or shoty repair work that I can see anywhere. This thing is ready to be played. It is really THE 5-18 to have if you are in the market for one. I’m deciding to part with it only because I don’t play it as much as I thought I would've. The only flaw I’ve caught is the backside tuner screw on the b-string; half of the flat-head screw head came off, though the tuner itself works and holds great - and can be removed to be replaced if desired (see pictures). That said, this is a 73 year old guitar. There are scratches and nicks etc. But from a structural stand point, it is solid. A real piece of history.
