The AVENTAGE difference

For their AVENTAGE-series receivers, Yamaha uses custom-designed parts with anti-resonance technology to reduce distortion caused by vibration. A rigid H-shaped frame adds stability to cut out chassis vibration almost completely. A specially designed fifth foot at the center of the receiver's base dampens internal and external vibrations, and an aluminum front panel further reduces resonance to maximize sound quality.

Flexible speaker connections for a custom sound system

The RX-A870 has outputs for nine speakers, giving you a few different configuration options. You can set up a standard 7.2-channel surround sound system or a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system, and use the extra two speaker outputs to power a pair of speakers in a second room. That way, you can enjoy stereo music in Zone 2 while others watch TV in the main room.

When Zone 2 is powered on, Yamaha's Intelligent Amp Assign feature automatically redirects the power for the two surround back channels — or the front height channels, depending on your configuration — to your stereo setup in Zone 2, giving you five-channel surround sound in the living room.

If you're happy with a simple 5.2-channel surround sound system, you can also use one of the extra sets of speaker outputs to bi-amp your front speakers for more powerful sound.
