A beautiful and historic Gibson Lap Steel Guitar. Its a 1957 Gibson Skylark model EH-500. We have it operating as it should with new strings and a really cool Homemade Backyard Case that fits it really well! More about the case later..

We dated the guitar from a web site search ...here's what we found..

Gibson Lap Steel Guitars

A number stamped with ink on the back of the headstock.
Gibson's solid bodys were released in 1952. Gibson did not use serial numbers at that time but started in 1953. The first digit of the series number is the last digit of the year. If the stamped number consists of 5 digits, there is a space between the first and second digit (a separation between the last digit of the year and the actual serial number).

Given that information, the first digit being a 7 we decided this cool lap steel is a Gibson from 1957.

The guitar is just beautiful. The Korina wood is very nice. Only a few dings on it. Yes, this is the same Korina Wood that was used on the early 1960's Epiphone Flying V Guitars! We were really happy the original Gibson Headstock logo was still with it. We had our Tech check it out and set it up with a new set of strings. Its pickup is very powerful. Original knobs and bridge cover are all still with it.

It sounds great and its in really great condition.

Check out the cool handmade wood case. We added the extra felt. Looks like it needed it. LOL..Not a case to travel with, obviously, nor is the original case but someone took a lot of time and care to make this case. It comes with the guitar!

Its a used guitar. It is sold as is no returns. Thanks for respecting that.
