I am offering a Guild F-55e Maple from 2023, the made in Oxnard, California (USA), all solid timber jumbo flagship jumbo acoustic guitar model with selected “AAA” Sitka spruce over a scalloped Adirondack red spruce bracing, arched back (!) and sides made of impressively figured flamed maple, set walnut-reinforced mahogany neck with “C” profile and 42.9mm bone nut, bound ebony fingerboard with V-block mother-of-pearl/abalone inlays, Gotoh SE700 open-gear gold tuners with butterbean pegs, high-quality L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system in a hand-polished antique natural high-gloss nitro finish with tortoise pickguard and abalone rosette in mint condition, including black Guild Premium humidifier hardshell case, certificate of authenticity (C.o.A.) and professional setup with 12-gauge Elixir strings.
This iconic 14-fret jumbo acoustic guitar classic is made from the finest materials and has a very tasteful, timeless look. Introduced in 1954, the F-50 was the top-of-the-line jumbo model – the Guild counterpart to the Gibson SJ-200 – and attracted a great deal of attention. For more than six decades, it has been one of the greatest successes of the US American luxury acoustic guitar maker. This Guild F-55e Maple, made in Oxnard, California in 2023, combines excellent workmanship with all the specifications that made its 1950s predecessor such a lasting success.
When selecting the top wood, you can see that expertise and experience flow directly into Guild's guitar making. A finely resonating Sitka spruce top of “AAA” quality provides a bright and powerful sound experience, especially in the medium and high frequencies, with numerous overtones that resonate for a long time. Due to its strong vibration behavior, the top, in combination with hand-carved Adirondack bracing, builds up an incomparable dynamic that impressively accentuates both classic strumming and picking.
The arched back and sides made of beautifully flamed maple also provide clean, defined, full-bodied basses for three-dimensional sonic depth and plenty of clarity in the tone. This allows the guitar to produce the characteristically voluminous orchestral sound, which always allows for excellent differentiation of the individual strings.
A sound example of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The hand-polished Antique Natural high-gloss Nitrocellulose lacquer not only highlights the wonderful woods, but also allows the guitar to “breathe”, thus conjuring up the final piece of sound perfection.
In terms of playability, the combination of a classic 651mm scale length, a 42.9mm bone nut and a 3-piece mahogany/walnut neck with a medium-strength “C” profile ensures a pleasantly smooth playing experience.
