Vintage Paul LeResche brass cornet serial number 28852 made in LaPorte, Indiana. According to info found on the Internet, this appears to be an early Artist model cornet made by Blessing and branded Paul W. LeResche. Decoratiave bell embossing says, “hand made by Paul W. LeResche, La Porte, Ind. LeResche was a trumpet player for the St. Louis symphony in the 1920s and 1930s and died in 1967, so this cornet is probably from the 30s or 40s.
Significant finish wear. Small dents present, but no large ones save to the leadpipe which has a crease (see photos for details) Plays very well and seems to have good compression. All caps turn freely and securely. Slides pull and valves rebound nicely; valves play smoothly. Cleaned and lubed; spit valve corks replaced. Comes with Beuscher true tone duo cup 99-D mouthpiece, scarred from what are obviously attempts to remove with pliers, but with silverplate intact. No case. Very solidly crafted and rare horn.
