This 1920 "Selmer New York" Buescher True Tone Tenor Saxophone is a well aged instrument that has been fully restored back into a soulful and well playing instrument!
Manufactured in 1920, this True Tone was hand stenciled and sold under the brand of "Selmer New York" despite not being manufactured or worked on by Selmer at all. The lacquer is well aged, but cleaned up beautifully revealing a fantastic vintage patina and style. For a 104 year old horn, the tone is warm, sweet, and it is a very free blowing horn. The intonation is nice, considering the age, but can be a little sharp on the upper stack. The key layout is of the era, not being as ergonomic as modern horns, but remains well regulated with no slop in the mechanism. The horn does lack a front F key though. The pearls and rollers appear to be original to the instrument.
This horn has had a full restoration and overhaul to make it a prime player for any enthusiast who is into vintage horns. The horn was completely disassembled, all new pads, felts, and neck cork added. The mechanism was checked for bent/binding keys & leaks, and all repairs were made. The finish was also deep cleaned and polished to bring it back to it's former style. The Selmer etchings are all hand done and remain a cool aesthetic feature to this instrument. This instrument also comes with a brand new Protec XL Contoured Pro Pac Case
