Yamaha acoustic guitars are some of the most sought after and sonorous guitars on the planet. This majestically beautiful, skillfully rendered square-shoulder from Yamaha Japan's revered "L-Series" (L stands for Luxury) epitomizes that ethos with gorgeous appointments and top-shelf tone that is fit for a queen (or king). This Yamaha guitar was made in the late 70's early 80's at Yamaha's Custom Workshop in Hamamatsu, Japan. Since early 1970s this workshop was led and supervised by Terry Nakamoto, a luthier legend in his own right. Yamahas L series acoustic guitars were launched in 1976 and priced at the same level as Yamaha’s classical guitar Grand Concert models. When you try to play this guitar, you'll quickly agree that it not only sounds much better than most $5000+ guitars currently sold at Guitar Center but can beat many much higher priced "luthier made" acoustics.

The L-8 was designed to basically be the Martin D-28's competition and it was remarkably up to the task. This instrument is a remarkably well crafted piece with a full, piano-like tonality, and a richly complex harmonic timbre. Every aspect of the guitar is masterfully executed and the materials utilized are second to none. The Ezo spruce top manifests into a tonefully articulate and detailed soundboard that exhibits fine detail and warmth, suiting itself well to finger style and flat picked lines. Solid rosewood is utilized in the back and sides, with a beautiful dark hue and tight grain along with solid ebony bridge and fingerboard. Both back and sides are elegantly decorated with detailed marquetry binding and the fretboard is adorned with snowflake inlay. The guitar is in player friendly condition and playability is absolutely spot on. This guitar is loud and very responsive. Its tonality is of breathtaking beauty, rich with overtones and harmonies yet combined with very high level of note clarity and separation all along the neck. There are no weaker or dead notes. They are all evenly expressive across entire range. All these traits are "magnified" by very extended sustain. It is simply a magical joy to play. The guitar has a nice scratch on the front and a few small dings and small scuffs, just enough to let you know this is a well favored instrument, but nothing nasty or out of the ordinary. The case has some bubbling and tears in the tolex. (see pics) This is an excellent example and a perfect find for the discriminating performer, or for that very special someone in your life, it's here, it's now, only at The Guitar Dude.
This guitar has been professionally set up and dialed in for optimal tone and playability. Unless otherwise noted in the listing, It features low action with no buzzing or dead spots, perfect intonation, a brand-new set of American-made strings, and a straight neck with a fully functional truss rod. If needed the frets have been leveled, dressed, crowned, and polished to a mirror shine. The guitar has been deep-cleaned and detailed and arrives stage- or studio-ready.

Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)

- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.

- Intonation is spot-on.

- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.

- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.

Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy

We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:

- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.

- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.

A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.

We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.

Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.

We are a small business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.

Payment, Shipping & International Duties

- All items can be shipped internationally. Buyer is fully responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees.

- We accept PayPal, PayPal Credit, Affirm, and other major payment methods.
