In 2024, we’ll once again challenge the “norm” with the introduction of the SA-126 Special, Wolfgang Van Halen’s take on what a modern guitar should be in the 21st century.

The SA-126 is the very definition of innovation personified. It’s a hybrid between a semi-hollow and a solid-body guitar: think a chambered solid body/center block blended with a bolt-on neck, then outfitted with features most commonly associated with high-performance guitar brands like a thin neck, jumbo frets, and high-output pickups. The brainchild of Wolfgang Van Halen, the instrument was created with versatility in mind, striking the perfect balance between punchy rhythm tones and lightning-fast lead tracks.

Here’s a quick rundown of the specs.

The all-new SA-126 features a chambered mahogany body, with a basswood center block added for stability and tone. Topped with a maple top over solids and quilted maple over clears with 5-ply body binding, this thing oozes “TONE.” The neck is a 22-fret composite ebony fingerboard with 12-16” jumbo frets and triple block inlays on a graphite-reinforced mahogany neck. With a scale length of 24 and three-quarters…this feels like a modern classic that’s familiar and comfortable. Finally, a spoked-wheel truss rod adjustment at the end of the neck for easy, on-the-fly adjustments.

Introducing the EVH SA-126 Bridge and Neck Pickups Created by Fender's resident pickup designer Tim Shaw and the EVH team, they can handle just about anything you throw at them. From the elegant sound of cascading cleans to a heavy bath of burn overdrive that will satisfy the most demanding gainiac. Three-way toggle on the upper horn switches between the bridge, bridge and neck, and neck pickups as well as two volumes and two tones to control each. Other features include a Harmonica bridge and stopbar tailpiece, oversized strap buttons and Keystone tuning pegs.

The SA-126 Special is available in 4 finishes. Tobacco Sunburst with gold hardware, Transparent Purple with chrome hardware and Matte Army Drab as well as Stealth Black with black hardware. Finally, it also comes with the SA126 Hardshell case wrapped in ivory vinyl and featuring a blue crushed velvet interior.
