I am offering a Gibson Custom Shop 1965 Non-Reverse Firebird V Vintage Sunburst VOS from 2023, the Nashville, Tennessee, USA handmade luxury reissue model of the Gibson 1965 Non-Reverse Firebird with lightweight mahogany body (3.6kg total weight), set-in 1-piece mahogany neck with Traditional 1960s Slim Taper “C” neck profile and 42.9mm nylon nut, bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard with Pearl dot inlays and 22 Authentic medium jumbo frets, two hot-sounding Gibson Firebird AlNiCo V mini humbucker pickups, high-quality Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge with legendary Maestro Vibrola tailpiece and Kluson Deluxe vintage tuners in an authentically aged Vintage Sunburst VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish, with aged nickel hardware and white pickguard including a red Firebird logo, in mint condition, including a black Gibson Custom luxury hardshell case, all manufacturer's documents and a professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.

When it was launched in 1963, the Firebird was light years ahead of its time and has long been the first choice of musical pioneers who want to set new standards in terms of style and sound. The second edition of the Firebird, introduced in 1965, however, turned everything upside down again. With its non-reverse headstock (which was unusual, at least for the Firebird itself) and the Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, the model obviously has a character all its own, which helped the guitar to prove itself on rock and blues stages around the world. Today, the 1965 non-reverse Firebird has absolute “classic” status, and this highly authentic reissue model from the Custom Shop continues the legacy.

This Gibson 1965 Non-Reverse Firebird V features a solid mahogany body in an offset format with an excellent weight of 3.6kg, promising comfortable handling even during long sessions. The sound is transmitted excellently via the deeply set, one-piece mahogany neck – typically Gibson – with an incredibly long sustain, and thanks to the slim Traditional 1960s Slim Taper “C” neck profile, almost every playing technique comes out of the hand with ease. The VOS finish, specially developed in the Murphy Lab, together with the slightly tarnished nickel hardware, also immediately conveys an incredible vintage vibe.

The guitar literally sings acoustically and when it is plugged into an amp, you need a moment to collect yourself from the sheer load of Firebird sounds. This is thanks to the two Gibson AlNiCo V mini humbuckers, which provide the right tones for almost every musical genre between blues and rock: powerful double-coil sounds in the best PAF tradition, which enable a lively response with a brilliant treble spectrum. Thanks to their nuanced dynamic response, the mini humbuckers also react perfectly to your playing style, so that every riff and lick is expressively accentuated.

A sound example of the model can be found at the top of the photo gallery.

The Maestro Vibrola tailpiece allows all kinds of playing to embellish notes and guides the strings over the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, which, with its adjustment options, enables precise intonation and comfortable string action. Kluson Deluxe Vintage tuners ensure that the guitar is always in tune.
