1959 Guild Capri CE-100 in 100% original condition and perfect working order. An early Guild archtop with a single Franz single coil pickup, the Capri CE-100 was positioned as a direct competition to Gibson’s ES-175. The CE-100 features a full 16’’ lower bout width on the hollow maple body, with a 2 ¾’’ body depth and a florentine cutaway for easy access to the highest frets. One of Guild’s early premier archtops, the CE-100 has a stunning, responsive tone, with a dynamic and detailed sound from the Franz P-90-style overwound single coil. Thick and throaty with bell-like top end, this Guild is great for complex Jazz cord voicings and the expressive acoustic tone of the body translates well through the pickup. The instrument is featherweight at 5lbs 13oz and has been professionally setup with 11-50 roundwound strings.

The mahogany neck has a soft V shaped profile with consistent depth as you travel up the fretboard. Overall the profile is fairly slender without being pencil thin, and the profile has light palm wear on the gloss finish for a silky smooth feel. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard features pearl block inlay and original slender frets which retain their full factory height and are in great shape. The frets exhibit only moderate wear on the crowns of frets 1-4, with virtually no wear beyond that. The action is low and comfortable in every register, with notes that ring out clearly and no buzzing or dead spots. The original carved bone nut measures 1 5/8’’ in width and the early Guild headstock with its “open book” shape retains the stock nickel Waverly tuners with lollipop buttons. The turners turn smoothly and hold pitch well, with light, uniform surface patina.

On the body, all of the original hardware is present including the floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, nickel harp tailpiece, DeArmond transparent knobs, and original black pickguard with early Guild silkscreened logo. Visible thorough the F hole, the original “ghost” label is fully intact, with the handwritten serial and model info, boasting of Guild’s Hoboken, NJ factory. The original nitro lacquer Sunburst finish is very vibrant, with light vertical checking. The body has a clean cream top and back binding with a tiny piece of repaired top binding at the cutaway. The top has a very consistent arch and the guitar has zero cracks or repairs, showing only a few scattered minor dings.

The original Guild-branded hardshell case is included. The case has a green plush interior, lightly textured black exterior, original Guild metal logo, clean gold latches and original handle.
