Magnecord PT-6J Microphone Preamp (1950s) - Rare Vintage Base for DIY Projects

I am offering an original Magnecord PT-6J microphone preamp from the 1950s for sale. This rare piece of studio hardware is not only a great tube preamp with a high-quality Triad input transformer, but also a fantastic basis for creative DIY projects.

Technical condition:

• The device has been put into operation by a technician and is working, but no further work has been carried out.

• In order to be able to use it professionally in the studio/rehearsal room, recapping would be recommended.

Unique DIY possibilities:

• The Magnecord is not just a microphone preamp, but with its integrated Jensen speaker and warm tube character (real vintage tubes!) it offers a wide range of modification options:

• Tube drive machine - perfect for warm, saturated tube distortion.

• Guitar amplifier - thanks to the speaker, it's a brilliant basis for a compact tube combo.

• Or bring it back to its original glory as a puristic tube preamp. You can find numerous projects and ideas online that show how versatile the Magnecord can be.

Visual condition:

• The preamp looks used and has been painted in an unattractive way. It would need some work.

• A few cosmetic changes such as adding new buttons to the front panel could be useful. Potentiometers are complete, however.

Details:

• Year of manufacture: 1950s

• Components: Triad input transformer, Jensen speaker

• Condition: Functional, but in need of work

This Magnecord PT-6J is a dream for vintage enthusiasts, tinkerers and DIY fans. Whether you want to use it as a studio preamp, creative tube tool or as the basis for a unique guitar amp project - here you get a piece of analog history with great potential.
