Harp-O-Chord Harp-zither 1899-1904 Black and gold

This is more of a collector’s piece. Not sure if it will find much interest on this platform. We have here, a Very rare 1899-1904 Harp zither. Made by inventor Carl Brown of Ohio. Produced by Harp-O-Chord (Teddy Roosevelt part owner) Charles H. Lindenberg (President.) Unfortunately it didn’t gain popularity and was only in business for a few years. Then in the 60’s …Margaret MacArther played it on the Tonight Show, to the enchantment of all who heard. It was finally noticed and everyone wanted one. Lark in the morning still produces replica to this day. Structural replica different look Natural wood with clear finish. As I restored this I added a couple customizations. The bottom was bare nails with the strings looped around them. I’m not sure if this was the original design or if a piece was missing. I looked at the few pics I could find and it seems that there was not a cover on the bottom. It can be easily removed (Two very small wood screws. It typically comes tuned in C major. I believe I had this in E minor. You can get a multi pack of guitar strings on Amazon for around 10-15 dollars and tune it any way you want. One or two of the strings in the chord section are bass strings, maybe too low for the instrument?!? It has a good sound if you lay it on a hard surface (table) while you play it. One of a kind example of an extremely rare piece.
