SUPER RARE 1979 ES-335   What makes this so rare?   This instrument, unlike the typical late-70's ES-335 models, is a "FACTORY DELETE" coil tap, and a "FACTORY ORIGINAL" stop tail (not a standard trapeze tailpiece).   Gibson began making a trapeze tailpiece standard on ES-335's in the early 70's, and began adding a coil tap switch on the lower bout as standard beginning 1976.  This instrument has no coil tap or trapeze tailpiece so it more resembles the ones from the mid-60's.  This appears to be an EMPLOYEE SALE guitar as it is marked SECOND, which is how Gibson prevented factory employees from buying instruments "at cost" then re-selling them on the open market for the suggested retail costs. The fact that this one is made contrary to the published specs for 1979 further indicates that this is truly a special-production instrument.
