—————

Introduced to the Fender catalogue in 1960, the Jazz Bass, originally called the ‘Deluxe’, offered great tonal versatility and a design that went beyond the utilitarian to achieve the comfort needed for seated playing. Its neck has also been reworked to make it narrower and thinner in the saddle, making it less tiring to play.

Compared to the Precision, the Jazz Bass has two pickups, closer to the offset waist contour of the Jazzmaster and Jaguar, and a narrower neck than its big sister, the Precision.

The original intention was to make it easier for double bassists to switch to electric bass. The Jazz Bass has three potentiometers (compared with two for the Precision), one for the volume per pickup, and one for the overall tone.

Many musicians have adopted this instrument, including Noel Redding, Jaco Pastorius, Larry Graham and many others.

One of Fender's most sought-after years, and for good reason.

This Jazz Bass is a real pleasure to play. It has the typical sound we've come to expect from it: bright and fine on the neck, clear and dynamic on the bridge.

Of course, it's perfect for slapping, but it's also very versatile. It's a genuine ‘70s jazz bass.
