Super "vibey" short scale bass from the Lawsuit era of Japanese production. Late 60's early 70's. When I bought this bass it had a hump in the fingerboard and playing in the upper register was hopeless. I leveled the fingerboard (10" radius) revealing the sapwood you see in the photos. I installed new frets and replaced the bridge. The bass plays cleanly over the entire fingerboard. The original pickups actually sound amazing, surprisingly so! The bridge pickup had low output so I eventually swapped both original pickups out for a set of Epiphone P90s and WOW! What an improvement. They sound quite like the original pickups just better and actually have the same polepiece spacing. The original tuners hold tune well. There are some extra screw holes around the G tuner where someone placed a different tuner at one point? The original pickups and bridge come with the bass. The Sticker on the back of the headstock is where I bought the bass. The work I did on this bass has breathed new life into this classic Matsumoku bass. A truly solid instrument! It's ready for another 50 yrs of thumping! No case but will be lovingly packed for safe shipment.
