Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A really cool, 197 2Epiphone FT-147 Dreadnought Guitar. its made in Japan, has a K&K Style underside passive pickup, and includes a really cool Super Lightweight Semi Hard Shell Case by Know Gear ...See pics..
These Matsumoku made, Blue label, Japanese guitars were made from 1971 thru 1975...We are calling it a 1972 from the serial number inside the sound hole. See the label in pic 3.
Here's some info on these cool guitars from the Epiphone Wiki page..
Epiphone 1975-1987
The Aria Epiphone Japan models that were made by Matsumoku from the early 1970s and ending before 1987 do not have a reliable serial numbering system but can be approximately dated using their Epiphone label colours.
1971-1975 - Blue label - Early models say "Union Made"
1976-1979 - Tan or white "Lincolnwood" label with Norlin logo
1980-1987 - Brown Label with splotched pattern
We cleaned it up, put new Phosphorus Bronze 11's on it and set her up...excellent action all the way up the fretboard. It plays and sounds great. X bracing on this relatively inexpensive guitar makes it a great deal.
The guitar is all original to include the bridge, pickguard, Nut, and the cool Fancy Buttom style Chrome tuners and Truss Rod Cover.
The guitar has a 25 1/2 inch scale neck with a nut that measures a full 1 3/4 inches. It has a zero fret and the body measures 16 inches at the lower bout. Its in beautiful shape. Only a couple scratches or dings on the back. There is one crack at the bass side on the top. See pic 5.
The Pickup system is not a K&K but like it. Its passive so you will need to turn your amp up louder or better yet, get a Preamp pedal to boost your signal to your amp. It does sound good and nice to have in this guitar.
Check out that awesome Knox Gear branded Semi Hard Shell Case. It has straps in the accessory box to carry it like a backpack.. Almost new! Cool case for your cool guitar!
