1971 Fender Precision Bass “B” Nut Width Tobacco Sunburst w/ Vintage DiMarzio Pickup, OG Hard Case

For sale is a vintage 1971 Fender P-Bass, featuring a dark rosewood fretboard and a "B" nut width (1-5/8"), endowing it with the playability of a neck that’s easier to get your hand around. It makes the neck feel somewhat closer to the neck found on a Jazz bass. This beauty shows authentic cosmetic wear, which only adds character. The finish, a classic Tobacco Sunburst, has gracefully aged and still shines through, despite its player-grade aesthetic, Weighing in at 8lbs 5oz, it’s a joy to play, sitting or standing.

The neck feels fantastic, and thanks to its narrow nut width, it’s as nimble as it is solid. The aged wood offers incredible sustain, perfect for laying down those deep, thumpy grooves. The frets have been freshly polished, and the rosewood fretboard has been conditioned, ready for countless more years of playing.

This bass has been hot-rodded with a vintage DiMarzio P-Bass pickup! Reading in at about 11k ohms, it was swapped in around 1976 based on the pot codes, and has an incredibly resonant and thunderous tone, yet still quite articulate. The pickup bears the "Patent Applied For" sticker, making it a unique piece of history from the early period of DiMarzio Pickups.

The pickguard has been replaced, leaving a small gap near the output jack, but this is only noticeable up close. The modification was likely done to cover the original holes from the removed pickup cover and thumb rest, a common practice at the time. This bass shows a fair amount of finish wear, especially on the back, where some of the original paint has worn through. There are no structural issues though and it's solid for any gig. It’s been fully gone-through and given a clean bill of health from our in-house technician. It’s a true road warrior with that unmistakable vintage bass vibe. Includes the original 70’s Fender Hard Case with the classic orange interior to keep this gem safe.

This 1971 Fender Precision Bass is ready to hit the stage or studio with all the vibe, tone, and history you'd expect from a well-loved and tastefully hot-rodded vintage instrument.
