Vintage - Gaines Audio Model 848 Audio Distribution Amplifier - Mono 8-Channel, Analog, Balanced +4, XLR I/O - PAIR (x2)
This is a pair (x2) of vintage Gaines Audio mono, balanced, +4db, 8-channel audio distribution amplifiers made somewhere within the '60s - '80s (my guess is in the 1970s). I used them for many years in my audio post production studio to split my stereo mix-buss signal out to various stereo sends/inputs (ie, to headphone cues, stereo inputs of high-end video decks, satellite and ISDN feeds, etc). As I moved more and more towards a fully digital, in-the-box form of working, I began to move away from needing them, but for any hybrid, or all-analog workflows, they are an excellent pair of 8x distribution amps. I have not used them in several years, so although they turn on just fine, they are being sold as is, as I do not have the audio capabilities to fully test their current functionality. That said, upon last installed usage in my studio, they were in perfect working order. They were well used both by me and by their previous owner, the famous Howard Schwartz Recording (HSR Studios) in midtown Manhattan - I bought them from HSR when they closed their doors in 2012, so they have some minor scuffs and scratches, but almost no other significant signs of wear and tear.
