Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.
You are looking at a very rare and unique 1940's era Electro Voice model 75 carbon microphone with period Astatic detachable E6G desk stand.
Pic # 2 & 3 is from an old 1946 E.V catalog showing this very model along with an another carbon mic of that era.
When Electro Voice was a very young company and making it's debut in the late 1930's it was offering a wide variety of microphones for use. Everything from crystal, carbon, dynamic and ribbon mics. The Model 75 was one of their early carbon microphones and was only offered for a few short years. Carbon mics were pretty much phased out by the late 1940's.
I have only ever seen 6 of these mics now. This and one other I'm selling on Ebay are the nicest I have offered on Ebay.
It should be noted that the mic has no output as the original carbon element is not inside the housing. It's an empty shell despite having all the other parts to make it function. This should really only be used for prop or display purposes unless you intend on installing a working element. This mic is in very nice overall physical condition considering it's age as seen in the pictures provided but it has been repainted. I would rate this mic an easy 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
The all metal design has heavy deco / industrial influence that really gives the mic a lot of character. It's got some weight to it as well. It was an ultra modern look for it's time. It has the hammered grey paint is free of any dents, scratches, scuffs or fractures. The original cable is cloth and comes with an old Cannon female XLR end connector.
The actual mic is 2 3/4 inches across X 1 inch deep X 4 inches tall and the measurements with stand are 9 1/2 inches in height X 4 1/2 inches wide.
MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...
The stand is a period 40's era Astatic E6G detachable desk stand. The E6G had a painted wood handle with an aluminum base. The handle detaches with a half twist allowing the user to walk around with the mic and handle only.
As you can see the stand is in very nice condition. It has been repainted using the same color as on the mic which was basically the same color tone Astatic was using at that time. The base shows no wear on top. The black handle shows lite wear in the form of indentations but the paint looks fantastic.
The mic with stand is appx 9 1/2 inches tall X 5 inches wide.
Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. All 3 rubber pads are included and will keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. It compliments any microphone that sits atop of it for sure but it really looks great with the model 75 mic.
If you are a serious collector of vintage Americans mics then you know what a unique mic this is. She'll make an awesome display piece anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office. These rarer 30's era EV mics will only go up in value.
And as always...
I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
