Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a beautiful and highly collectible late 1930's / early 1940's era Electro Voice V-1 "Velocity" Ribbon microphone that comes with a short cable shown and a period Bud desk desk stand. A larger ribbon mic made by E.V in South Bend, Indiana and certainly one of the most unique. This would make a great addition to any vintage mic collection. An excellent prop or display piece as well.

This is a very rare early V-1 model. E.V changed the V-1 during the mid 1940's to the smaller chrome version that is about 1/3 the size of the first generation V-1. This is actually the very first V-1 in this early era that I have ever come across. These larger earlier 1st gen V series mics are almost never the V-1.

Pic # 2 shows this very early V-1 model mic as well as the others sold at that time.

It should be noted right away that the mic does work but at some point somebody replaced the ribbon element and installed a speaker to pick up noise. It was a sloppy job and the mic sounds pretty bad but the rest of the components are still inside of the mic and this can be professionally fixed to have an old original type ribbon set up. ENAK based out of New Jersey is quite reasonable and their work is top notch. About $450.00 would have this sounding studio ready and working like new again. Ask me for more details if you'd like to go that route?

You'll see in picture # 3 the difference between the earlier V-1 model and the the later chrome V-1 model. Again, this is the early V-1 but the later V-1 is much smaller and compact.

These V-1's rarely come around and rarely as nice as this example.

This V-1 measures 8 inches tall X 4 inches wide. The stock painted metal body shows very lite wear as seen in the pictures provided and has been thoroughly cleaned. There are no dents, fractures or engravings on the mic. The E.V label looks pretty damn nice too. The V-1 sits on it's original yoke / swivel and it works nicely allowing just the right amount of tension and desired angle. Just lite pitting on the chrome tightening thumb screws. Both front and rear chrome screens have zero dents or tarnish. The E.V badge states that the OHMS are SPCL and I don't know what that means to be honest?

 Cosmetically it's a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10.

There is a short 14 inch cable included that has the older male 1/4 inch end connector that you'll need to operate this mic. The cable included is soft, pliable and in great condition.

MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The stand is a period 1940's era Bud 588 model as seen in pic # 4. It's a classic deco 4 tier "waterfall" design that really compliment the V-1 and looks like the two belong to each other. It's got a heavy cast iron base with original black paint and a short chrome riser.

The stand is just as nice as the mic. It has the 3 original Bud painted yellow label on the bottom too which is just slightly worn. The stand is free of any corrosion or heavy wear. A very nice piece. Just some light chrome loss on the chrome riser.

With the stand and mic the dimensions are appx 14 inches tall X 5 inches wide.

If you need a gem of a early V-1 this will not disappoint. This V-1 will certainly rise in value due to it's rarity and pristine condition.

As with all my other vintage microphones...
