This is a lovingly made and finished "partscaster" with premium parts and setup. I started assembling and finishing guitars in 2022 and am now selling them under the brand Quint Guitars.
This started with a desire to make an ultra-light and extremely resonant guitar that could sustain for days. This pine semi-hollow body is just beautiful, with great woodgrain popping through and as always extremely good relic touches by MJT.
The neck is a roasted maple with a rosewood fretboard that I've finished by hand with Tung Oil and wax. It's smooth as can be and feels great with its medium C (9.5" radius) shape.
To get the most grit and sustain the pickups are a unique combo of a Fralin Steel Pole 43 in the neck (basically a p90 in a smaller case) and a Fralin High Output in the bridge. The combination makes for some serious output that really drives a tube amp with instant grit and feedback. The controls are reversed and the pots are Bournes instead of CTS and are much looser which makes it easy to do volume control fades/tremolo.
My sustain goals were accomplished as well as the weight - this only weighs 6lbs 9oz.
