I play, collect, and restore Vintage Japanese Guitars, and when the right time comes, I let them inspire someone else!
This is part of my collection. I own over 25 MIJ Stratocasters, mostly Tokai, Greco, Fernandes, and Fresher. I search for them and buy directly from their owners in Japan, then import them to Europe. I stabilize them to perfect humidity (45-55%) and restore them.
Collectors love all Greco SE500B made in the '80s. This one is also a workhorse that gives the feel of a vintage Stratocaster.
From a constructional point of view, this Strat is a nearly perfect replica of the 1954-58 Strat, the closest you can get to the vintage Strat without spending a fortune.
This guitar is in fair visual condition. There are many scratches, and lacquer is peeling off the edges of the neck, but this is nothing except a natural relic made during years of heavy usage. It is always an indicator that the guitar is a great player!
It has a lightweight body and playable neck with a tremendous neck with changing shape: V-shaped on the first five frets and C-shaped on the rest. Taste of the vintage Strat for peanuts ;)
It was in my collection from April 2021, but I decided to move it forward because it deserves to be played daily while I'm not able to play all my 25 Strats 😱
Greco in 1981 was a year after switching their entire production to more history-correct models that represent the best Fender years ('54, '58, '59, '60s, and '70s).
In general, the period between 1980 and 1982 was the best period for Greco in terms of craftsmanship quality and general playability of guitars, especially for Fender replicas (that's the famous "Super Real Era," something that's hyped and worth the hype 110%!). If you want great Greco, hunt for the one made between 1980 and 1982. You won't regret it.
Guitar is all-original except for the bridge saddles that are replaced to boutique ones made by Highwood Guitar Parts.
Comes without a case or gigbag, the hard case on photos is not for sale.
