"Teye Guitars" is a handmade guitar brand crafted in a Nashville workshop. These instruments are created by the skilled luthier and flamenco guitarist Teye Wijnterp and his team of expert artisans. The intricate designs, inspired by Zemaitis guitars, utilize rare and premium materials, making them increasingly difficult to find domestically in recent years.
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Teye's flagship model, the "Electric Gypsy La India Supreme (S-Series)," a guitar highly praised in music magazines worldwide. This particular piece is believed to have been crafted around 2010.
This stunning guitar features a front plate made of aluminum, adorned with turquoise inlays and engravings. It was the model that started it all for the brand. Initially, Teye built this guitar for personal use in late 2004 to explore how far he could take his electric guitar concept. Due to overwhelming demand, it went into production. The "La India" model helped establish Teye as one of the top boutique builders in the modern era.
Equipped with three pickups, the philosophy behind Teye is to "try anything imaginable." The combination of shimmering aluminum and turquoise gave rise to the name "La India." The "Electric Gypsy" moniker pays homage to guitar heroes Paco de LucÃa and Jimi Hendrix.
The Supreme model is part of Teye's S-Series. This series features acid-etched aluminum plates instead of hand-engraved ones and uses a solid binding with a single printed insert in a C-channel instead of handmade adornments. It also comes with TonePros bridges and tailpieces, replacing the handmade ones. The S-Series is quite expensive, retailing for around $5,500, but the fully handmade A-Series models are even more costly.
All Teye guitars have a unique feature: the sparkling water bottle caps that conceal the wiring. Teye wanted to keep the wiring secret, so he covered it with epoxy resin, and it just so happened that a bottle cap he had on hand fit perfectly. This became a trademark feature.
The guitar offers a wide range of sounds with its 5-way selector switch, and it also has a unique knob called "Mood," which functions like a mid-cut circuit. You can enjoy transitioning from the thick humbucker tones to more refined and thinner sounds.
