The following excerpt is from the official boss.info website:

“When Roland released its game-changing JC-120 Jazz Chorus in 1975, guitar players looking for fresh sounds embraced the amp. Aimed at pro players, the solid-state JC-120 presented an exciting alternative to the usual fare. It also featured a stereo Chorus/Vibrato section. This groundbreaking modulation design transmuted into stompbox form the following year. The BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble featured all-new analog BBD circuitry. It was BOSS’s debut effects pedal and the world’s first-ever chorus pedal—a design that has proven hard to beat since it appeared in 1976.“

So potentially, this unit might not only be the first chorus unit ever produced, it could also be the very first Boss pedal ever made. The one true mother of all chorus pedals and the grand elder of all Boss pedals.

As a collector myself, this is my prized possession and the price reflects that. I’d prefer to keep it forever and I’m not in a rush to sell. Honestly I think I could sell it for way more in another decade or so.

The pedal is in good working condition. Some of the knobs are a little scratchy, but only when being turned. Not bad for being almost 50 years old.
