The Trenton Reverb is the ultimate grab-and-go amp, and is available in 15, 20 or 35 watts. The heaviest version, the 35 watt is a full pound lighter than a 15W Princeton Reissue. The 20W is lighter than the 35, and the 15W is even lighter than the 20W. The Trenton is a nod to the classic Princeton Reverb amp, but with over 20 changes to the circuit and with more options (including a three way adjustable mid circuit, a tone stack elimination/boost and switchable/ variable negative feedback to alter the response of the power section). The switch between the Treble and Bass controls varies the level of the mids. In the down position, it emulates the classic tone stack, in the up position, it had a slight mid emphasis. In the middle position, the tone stack is eliminated completely and 100% of your guitars signal goes straight through, which increases the gain in the preamp drastically. Keep in mind that with the mid switch in the middle position, the Bass and Treble knobs will not do anything.
The second switch controls the overall feel of the power amp. In the down position, the amp has the classic feel that we all fell in love with. With the switch in the upper position, the amp has a looser, more vox like feel to it, and with the switch in the middle position, the power amp feels even more lively. A lot of people prefer this position for lower volume playing, especially.
I also upgraded a lot of the components, as well as the layout and grounding of the circuit, which helps with lowering the noise floor. I also beef up the phase inverter so it doesn’t fold in on itself and start to get fizzy at volume like a typical Princeton.
The tremolo is modified to be deeper and slower than normal, and the reverb circuit is modded for more control over the overall level. The preamp has slightly more gain and a tweaked tone stack while the redesigned power section helps make it more robust and versatile. Very gig and studio friendly, these hand wired amps come with a lightweight neodymium speaker in a lightweight pine cabinet for the ultimate package in portability and great tone.
