CONDITION : “A rare and fabulous opportunity to own the Ben Davis pre-loved treasure of a Vocaltone mouthpiece with vintage silver-plated ligature. The ligature though belonging originally to an alto sax pairs beautifully with the same slim and elegant lines of the Ben Davis mouthpiece. Its angled sides twin those of the mouthpiece and the two become one on so many levels. This one-off mouthpiece was made for a silver jazz Bb clarinet is in excellent condition and has been well maintained. The tip has no marks, the beak has a couple of light teeth mark blemishes and pleasingly carries less than the usual collection of cosmetic scratches you would expect on the ligature line for such a vintage piece. Similarly, the ligature harks back to a time of decadence and everything symmetrical in the artistic field of design. It's a well-crafted piece and works a treat as a hug-fitting device. The aethetic look of the Ben Davies and this retro ligature makes for a pleasing duo and is a delightful find.”

This Ben Davis Vocaltone pre-loved Bb clarinet mouthpiece is a rare and fabulous find and is being presented together with a complimenting similar-styled ligature.

The Ben Davis was originally crafted for a silver jazz clarinet and oozes vintage and styling.

Dates approx. 1920-1940.

The streamlined crafesmanship is suberp with angled sides to give a slim, elegant look.

The tenon cork is complete and there appear to be no cracks or splits to the body.

All-in-all and considering its age this little treasure is in remarkable condition.

The Ben Davis Vocaltone will improve tone quality and sound and you get to own a piece of clarinet history.

Ligature:

Originally crafted for an alto saxophone this slim, elegant piece is a lovely find and compliments the Ben Davis mouthpiece well. Of robust construction with a single screw it's structurally in excellent condition. Its symmetrical design catches the eye and it's fit to the Ben Davis mouthpiece is snug. There's the odd patch of mild surface 'smudges' where the silver-plate has worn but largely this ligature sports a solid mass of silver plate.
