This listing is for a vintage 1966 Ludwig three piece "DOWNBEAT" drum outfit.

There are no date stamps on any of these drums but the serial numbers are consistent with Ludwig drums made in 1966.

Sizes are; 14" deep x 20" wide bass drum (serial # 328249), 14" deep x 14" wide floor tom (serial # 326193), and a 8" deep x 12" wide tom-tom (serial # 355129).

These drums are constructed out of three plies of wood; maple/poplar/mahogany and have interior glue rings made from solid maple. The interiors are factory finished in Ludwig white "resocoat" lacquer. All three drums have matching white interiors and as you can see from my pictures, the interiors are in excellent condition. There is some of the white resocoat paint on both of the bearing edges of the 20" bass drum (see picture # 5), otherwise, the factory bearing edges are in good condition.

The exteriors are factory wrapped in Ludwig's "burgundy sparkle". As you can see from my pictures, the pearloid covering is beautifully preserved and has an intense, mirror-like shine to it. These drums have been enjoyed and played for over 50 years and as a result, they do have just a few small wear marks on them.

Lastly, there are no modifications on any of the drums, there are no extra holes and none of the bearing edges have been redone. Both bass drum hoops are original, and even the burgundy sparkle inlay strips are intact, but the individual pieces of inlay are loose and need to be glued back down.

Each drum is factory equipped with all of it's original metal fittings and mounting hardware. Each part is brilliantly chrome plated and have only the tiniest amount of surface pitting on some of the lugs. The bass drum comes equipped with it's original bass drum spurs and tom mounting hardware. The floor tom is equipped with it's original 17" long floor tom legs. A genuine Ludwig L-arm cymbal holder is included with this listing.
