This has been spray painted black. Even the strings were painted from the nut up.The tuners were also spray painted flat black. He did remove the knobs and covered up the pickups. The plate that bolts the neck on reads Made in Japan and Gould shows up but the rest of it has been painted over and hard to see. Pick guard is missing but everything else is original. Plays very nice Neck is in great shape too. I don't know what's under the paint job but there are no major dings or cracks. There are a few minor dents here and there. Seems like there always is. Use it as is or strip it and make it look like new. I bought it 20 years ago and have thought about stripping it and re finish it but I think it is pretty cool the way it is. Very unique. The fellow I bought it from had lent it to his son who got the urge to paint it black. I used a a paint stripper on the bracket that hold the neck on. You can see it in the last photo. It had a blue primer under a few coats of flat black. You could just paint it without stripping it. He did a nice job of painting it. The old man was very upset when he got it back but he got over it. I'll say it again it plays real nice and if it had not been painted it would be worth quite a bit more then what I'm asking.
