 You are looking at a classic rarer 1960's / 70's era Shure Brothers 580SA Dynamic cardioid microphone with excellent sound quality and set at high impedance. The microphone comes with a short vintage cable, original Shure mic clip, original case & data sheet shown.

 Pic # 2 is from a catalog I have showing all of the mics performance characteristics. While this 580SA doesn't have as good a frequency response as the Shure PE54D it still a very high quality microphone and you'll be pleasantly surprised by how it sounds. Even a 2nd rate Shure mic back then often sounds just as good or better than a lot of the dynamic cardioid mics being made today.

 This is a very seldom seen Shure Brothers model mic that was only sold for about 5 years before being discontinued and has a very heavy mid century vibe. Very space race design and it's a chunkier mic. The 580SA was a mic that could be used for general broadcasting, singing and broadcasting with excellent uni-directional characteristics.

 The mic is actually more of a mid range tone and if you get right up on the front grill it produces a bit more bass.

 The few 580SA examples I have seen over the years are usually in much rough condition. This one is an absolute gem with virtually no wear and was very gently used. It has been tested and has a 100% output with perfect tone. 

 The satin chrome finish shows really pops as seen in the pics provided and has a gorgeous luster even after years. The Shure logo that encircles the globe looks fantastic as does the chrome globe being free of any dents, fractures or tarnish. I added a new foam liner / pop filter to the inside of the globe as the old one had completely fell apart and this helps greatly with the sound characteristics.

 This 585SA comes with a short 6 inch vintage attached cable that's in great usable condition and comes with a quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector. The cable is soft and pliable. You can add a longer XLR cable of choice as an extension but it has to have a male 1/4 inch end connector. A longer XLR to XLR cable will not work. This is a high impedance mic so the extension cable has to have the male 1/4 inch connection. There's plenty of room in the box for a longer cable as well.

 The mic clip is a beautiful 1st generation all metal Shure A25 model that looks just as nice as the mic. It fits like a glove and gives the user a wide degree of tilt up and down and will screw onto any mic stand. 

 The 580SA mic box is in good overall shape and a great, harder to find accessory for resale value as well.

 Also the data sheet which has a ton of technical info on this microphone which will come in handy. Very good condition as well.

 Overall I would rate this mic physically an 10 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department and you'll be hard pressed to find one nicer. I would recommend actually using this piece rather than for display. She's got plenty of life left in her. If you need something that few other musicians or broadcasters have then this 580SA will certainly do.
