Fernandes Atlas Standard 5

Up for sale is my Fernandes Atlas Standard 5 string bass. I bought this recently as a project and have done a full upgrade, shielding, setup and intonation on the bass. It weighs about 9 lb. 15+ ounces, but it balances well on a strap.

The condition of this bass cosmetically is as shown in the pictures. There are dings and scratches, and a chip or two on the body. But the neck is straight and true - the frets are all in great shape, as is all of the original hardware. The new strings are DR Lo-Rider nickel steels - 45-130.

The electronics have been completely gutted. I have installed an Aguilar OBP-1 treble/bass boost only preamp running at 18 v, with a passive-type tone control. Plus the pickup has been replaced with a Nordstrand Big Blademan wired in parallel. The tone on this bass is fantastic. The Nordstrand pickup and Aguilar preamp were made for each other. Plenty of clarity and punch, and a low end that will cut through any mix. The preamp is set at active only. I am also including the original pickup.

I'm not sure where this bass was made, but I'm thinking Korea, or perhaps China. There's very little information out there on Fernandes guitars and basses where serial numbers are concerned. Nevertheless, this is a great sounding, and great playing bass and will knock the socks off of any of the imported MM style basses out there - and even some of the USA offerings IMO.

The bass comes with a used Fender gig bag that is a little long in the tooth, but in very good condition. I will consider any reasonable offer, but lo-ball offers need not apply. I ship FedEx ground within 24 hours of payment. Check my feedback.
