I had to replace the original ADJ bridge saddle. This current saddle is fully adjustable and allows the action to go significantly lower if you chose. This guitar was poorly refinished when I found it. It also had some top cracks on the bass side of the body. After cleating the cracks my luthier and I decided to give the guitar are dark sunburst finish. That combined with the smaller pickguard gives this the look of a late 40’s J-45. This instrument has tremendous bass and great sustain. There is a dip in the top between the bridge and the soundhole. This is very common with this era Gibson flattop. My luthier pointed out that the top is significantly thinner after the refinishing process. This has definitely increased the guitars sustain. Currently there is lots of room to move the strings up or down. There are some grooves in the fretboard (1st fret between B & G strings & the 2nd fret at B and high E string. The slim 60’s neck makes the instrument very easy to play. This is a top only refin. The back/sides/neck and headstock retains its original finish. This repair/refinish job was necessary; but it also improved the sound and aesthetic of the instrument. The guitar will ship in an aftermarket hard shell case. This J-45 is also listed locally in the Seattle/PNW area, so act fast. Thank you
