The Fender Custom Shop guitars are really something else. With these hand-built instruments Fender makes it very clear that they are unmistakably the boss when it comes to building the most tone-full, authentic sounding Strats, Tele's, offset's, Jazz and P basses.
The degree of output, tonal range and the specific character of the Custom Shop instruments is unprecedented and incomparable. Fender's master luthiers know better than anyone how to recreate the looks and vibe of the vintage Fender's so coveted by many.
The quest for that one unique vintage instrument has probably become impossible; the vintage Fenders that are still in out there an which are good and original are often priceless. On top of that, it is questionable whether you would want to actually play with such collector's items!
And in that respect, Fender Custom Shop offers the ultimate solution; all the sound, look, feel and vibe of authentic Fender guitars, without the worries about playability, damage or wear (and therefore value reduction) and -relative to the pricing of vintage guitars- in a realistic price range.
The Postmodern collection offers a choice of guitars not necessarily affiliated with one pre-CBS build or period but offer a blend of vintage features with improved ergonomic and sonic features. This Postmodern Strat has a two-piece select alder body, quarter-sawn maple neck and quarter-sawn round-laminated maple fingerboard (without skunkstripe). The neck has a 1959 soft D-shaped profile and the contoured neck heel provides extra playing comfort and reach on the higher positions of the neck. The fingerboard has a compound radius from 9.5" to 12" and 21 narrow tall frets.
The pickups are a trio of Dual Mag II hand wound single coil pickups with reversed wound/reversed polarity middle pickup and the traditional 5-position circuit with clever Tone Saver Bleed on one of the two tone controls besides the standard master volume and master tone controls. The bridge is a Custom Shop vintage synchonized tremolo and the tuners are vintage "Kluson-style."
Fender's Custom Shop luthiers have mastered the craft of applying the aged, relic'te look like no other. This Postmodern Strat has a subtle "Journeyman Relic" finish with "Closed Classic" hardware. Truly a treat on this fantastic Aztec Gold finish! The weight of this guitar is 3.53 kg / 7.78 lbs.
Combining the alder body with the maple fingerboard, this Strat has a very rich sound, super resonant and has an insane bandwidth; fat and creamy low end and a wonderful sparkle which is so typical for a classic Fender Stratocaster. There is really nothing not to like about this guitar; a Strat like you would imagine a great Strat to be with the added comfort of the compound neck and contoured heel. The somewhat unusual Tone Saver Bleed for the bridge pickup works great and is very useful; it allows you to tune the bridge pickup to make it just a little less aggressively.
Included is the deluxe, original Fender case, matching accessories and, of course, the certificate.
