Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a 1980's era University Sound US688L model dynamic cardioid microphone based on the more common Electro Voice 658L Dynamic Cardioid microphone set at low impedance making it great for singing and general broadcasting purposes. This mic comes with a vintage clip shown.

Electro Voice sold many of their mics to other companies that were merely rebadged and nothing more. University Sound was one of those companies in the 1980's that sold the 658 under license and they sold their model in a unique flat black scheme. This 688L seems to have been an upgraded version of the 658 model. The mic was actually built in Japan back when Japan was making some of the finest, quality mics one could purchase. The quality control and build was top notch.

The US688L is set at 150 OHMS (low impedance and the frequency response is 60 - 13,000 HZ. The tone is smooth and this mic sounds really nice. I'd compare it to a classic Shure SM58 with just a little less bass. This is a very high quality mic that will be ideal for singing and broadcasting purposes. A rugged, well constructed mic with excellent sound characteristics.

This was the newer generation of handheld microphones with a design that had less to do with making an impression and more to with practicality. The flat black paint scheme keep light glare to a minimum and has a slightly more aggressive vibe.

The mic is lite weight and appx 7 inches long X 2 inches wide at the tip of the grill.

As you can see in the pictures provided this mic is in very good cosmetic condition having typical lite wear. The mesh grill looks new with zero deformation, odors or discoloration. The bezel does have small paint chips. The label looks amazing and completely legible. The original painted handle has lite wear in the form of scratches. These 6 series mics are basically bullet proof.

The microphone comes with a vintage mic clip and it works perfectly and looks very nice with the mic. Firm grip too. The clip will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

This mic takes a standard XLR type cable to operate this mic though none is included. The XLR pins on this mic were cleaned as they were slightly tarnished. This will ensure a perfect signal once the cable is attached.

This will make an excellent addition to the vintage mic collection or something truly nice for any live event.

 Mic is an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
