The violin was rated as a professional level violin, of course that would mean suitable for Advanced play and above.
Ivan has 1 violin and 1 viola playing at a professional level. One in the Dallas Symphany, the other played for a time in the Fort Worth Symphony before the owner moved to Germany.
This violin is a two piece back violin, the back made of sycomore wood. The violin is what I call, a 'sleeper'. The sound speaks for itself from this unassuming looking violin.
A little bit about Ivan - a humble luthier passionate about perfection:
Originally studying Physics in Bulgaria, he worked in woodworking and woodcarving. Upon coming to the United States, he found a new passion in 2009 when his son started playing the violin. He found his hidden spark, and has been creating instruments ever since. To date he's made around 70 violins, 1 cello, and 10 violas. Taking a new direction, he began making guitars and ukuleles in 2020.
Most of the violins are made in the Italian or German tradition following designs from Guarneri, Dalla Costa, Rogeri, and Stainer although he has developed several personal models over the years.
"I enjoy making unique and nontraditional instruments with inlays, carvings, and figurine scrolls. I'm experimenting with arching, graduations, and bracing systems."
If you're in Texas, you're welcome to play prior to purchase.
