v76t Cardioid Tube Condenser Microphone made in California. (One left)
These mic's were listed with the MXL premium mic lineup page of 2012. There were not very many made and even though the MXL website has these mics available to look up and verify specs when using their search engine, their tech had never heard of them. These are very cool mics but they didn't make many and they didn't make them for very long. From what I gathered, they cost too much to make so they were discontinued and replaced by the cheaper MXL960 mics. You can go to the mxlmics website and use their search to find all the info there.
I bought 6 a long time back and have 4 unopened, brand new mics with all the extras, straight from the factory. I forgot I had them until not long ago. Be aware that these are shipped in boxes that originally said MXL 992/993 but had a label placed over that to say MXL V76T instead. Like I said, these were a really small run of mics that they made.
So - what MXL had to say for the mics is listed below with all the specs.
======================
The MXL V76T is like time travel for singers. This tube microphone gives vocals a vintage sound. It’s smooth and solid in the middle, with overtones that make recordings sparkle. It’s the kind of tone that makes music from the past so classic. The V76T has an upfront presence that lands in the right place in a mix, no matter which kind of music you’re making.
