SPL Kültube 2049, with Lundahl input and output transformers. It sounds fantastic, and has been racked in a professional mastering studio since my purchase, and new preamp tubes were installed in May of 2025.
The Kultube, like a lot of SPL stuff, is unique in its design, and i haven’t found another compressor that does exactly what it does. The Lundahl transformers are, well, transformative too-they really add to the overall euphonic sound of it and bring out the tube color a bit more. I used it as low ratios when a nice, soft knee was needed, just riding the top of the peaks.
I may decide to keep it… who knows?
