I got this Kramer Baretta a few years ago as a project from the original owner. Based on the serial number and comparing it to other guitars on Reverb I estimate it to be 1986-ish. The previous owner had painted it all matte black. I got another guitar from him that had the original finish underneath the new paint so I stripped the black off the body hoping for the same. What I found was that he had gone all the way to bare wood and used a vivid green stain or dye. I then thought to try to do an original color refinish on it and put a primer coat on it to prep for that. The primer seemed like it didn't set up quite right, so I started stripping it off, and when I got to this point I thought "That looks and feels really good" so I stopped there. I like that the finish tells the story of the guitar. The matte black finish was left on the neck and headstock, and it actually very comfortable and fast, but not slippery, if that makes sense.

In addition to the finish there are some other condition issues. The tremolo is a super cheap licensed Floyd Rose. It works, and holds tune, but upgrading that was on my to-do list for this guitar. Note the arm is included, just didn't have it on for some of the pics.

There is a ding on the fretboard (see picture). I have found I do not notice it at all when playing but YMMV. There is definitely some fret wear, see picture of neck without strings. I didn't find this to cause any playing issues since it is down in the cowboy chord area, but at some point might need to be addressed.

The pickup is a vintage Mighty Mite, just like EVH used (OK, I'm not sure this is the exact model he used, so much of that stuff is mythology). It sounds great, but is quite microphonic as currently installed, I think this would be improved with some dampening material around the pickup and some wax potting if necessary.

Guitar will come with vintage hard case that has some stains and stickers but is in functional shape.

As with other vintage gear, this is sold in "as-is/as-described" condition. Please ask any questions before purchasing.
