1979 Charvel Strat
two piece solid flamed Koa body, green phenolic nut
matching wood dots, 1-5/8" length pre-pro logo.
This has the early thick cream control plates and a very rare larger rear control route as seen on a few other very early Charvels, (George Lynch's Bengal, etc)
Has been sitting in its case for 20+ years.
This was made in 1979 using 1961 fender pickups (told from previous owner) with cloth wrapped wiring. These are not replacement pickups.
Very straight C-shaped neck with 1-5/8" nut width. Some fret dimpling but in very useable shape. Tuners turn effortlessly unlike other old crown-heads I've seen.
Has push-pull active circuitry (9v) that works without battery in. Both tone and volume pots somewhat 'scratchy', needs cleaner but I have not done this since it gets spray all in the cavity and I want new owner to see how it is.
9.49lbs
Other noteworthy details:
Small crack near tone control where case pushed on knob (case has been since adjusted to not push on knob)
trem arm is broken off in trem arm hole.
Switch tip missing
non-original SKB hardshell case
screws for rear control cavity plate not original.
Other than these screws, everything else is believed to be 100% original, no extra holes anywhere, no repairs have been made.
Serious offers considered.
Many additional pics are available upon request.
Insured shipping to 48 CONUS only. other areas will be actual shipping.
