Concept Models by Custom Shop Builders to Commemorate Sakura's 10th Anniversary
A “concept model” that more strongly reflects the individuality and philosophy of the custom store builder and sublimates it into a unique style will also be available at the 2024 Divisor Grand Meeting. This model commemorates the 10th anniversary of Sakura Guitar, and is built on the theme of a guitar made of cherry wood.
Yasui's challenge: a cherry blossom guitar for fingerpicking
Custom store builder Yasui has created a guitar that can be described as a guitar for fingerpicking style players. This model is designed for easy fingerpicking, and the tone and tension of the pressed strings have been carefully selected.
Cherry blossom and madacascar rose 3-piece back
Cherry wood, the theme of this concept model, is used for the sides and back. For the back material, Madagascar Rose is incorporated into the centerpiece, giving it a clear attack sound and shimmer in the treble register.
Madagascar Rose is used because of Yasui's experience that there is no substitute for its sound, and it was once used as a building material for temples in Japan, and has been seasoned over several decades.
German spruce top
German spruce, a traditional acoustic material that has been used for all kinds of instruments from ancient instruments to classical guitars, is used for the top. This wood is fast in response and excellent in picking up the nuances of the player, and is used for its beautiful resonance in the upper register and its clean, uncluttered sound.
Tapered fingerboard and pinless bridge
The neck is set at a shallower angle than the regular lineup. A shallower neck set angle reduces tension, but at the same time raises the string height. Therefore, the thickness of the fingerboard is gradually thickened and tapered toward the body side to maintain a tension feeling that makes it easy to press strings without raising the string height. The bridge is also made pinless to slightly loosen the tension, allowing the player to enjoy the wide range of the 25.5” scale without sacrificing fingering or playability that is not possible with regular products.
Twistless System
When adjusting neck warp with a regular truss rod, the neck twists slightly due to the force of the nut turning the truss rod and the truss rod itself being pulled. With the Twistless System, bearings on both ends of the truss rod rotate to counteract the twisting force, and the neck receives only the force to correct the warp without twisting. A stable neck allows for severe neck and string height adjustments and maintains a high level of playability.
