Here up for consideration is a mid to late 70’es YAMAHA FG-160.
I recently bought 2 of these and I’ve decided to sell one.
This is the same model and near vintage I started my musical journey with in 1977.
The neck is straight. The action at the first few frets is excellent but as is the case with guitars of this age and era it gets a little higher towards the upper frets. The frets show a little wear (see pics). The back demonstrates a crazy amount of grain (see pic) which speaks to the quality materials of these guitars. The neck contour is a bit on the chunky but it‘s solid and playable.
There are imperfections around the body and neck finish. I won’t try to characterize them because Opinions on fair-good-excellent vary so wildly. i will instead refer you to the pictures. The top is showing a little relief at the bridge attachment point (as most guitars of this age do). It is solid and shows no sighs of release. It’ll come in the era correct chipboard case and it’ll be bubble wrapped and double boxed for safety.
Shout out any questions you may have or requests for more or specific pictures.
