Up for sale is a vintage early-1960s Premier Model 50 tube combo amp from a large, well-maintained collection that is being downsized. This appears to be one of the later versions of the Model 50, likely dating from approximately 1963–1965.
The amp retains what looks to be its original internal electronics, with the addition of a properly installed 3-prong grounded power cable for improved safety.
Recent updates include:
- Replacement speaker with a properly fitting Jensen (the previous speaker had an oversized magnet that interfered with tube installation)
- Installed NOS USA tubes:
- 12AX7 preamp tube
- 7591 power tube
- 5Y3 rectifier
Condition / Functionality:
The amp powers on, and the controls produce some crackle and low-level hum when adjusted, but there is currently no signal from the guitar input. It will require servicing by a qualified technician to bring it back to full working condition.
Please note: The Premier Model 50 went through multiple circuit variations between 1947 and 1965, using different power tube configurations. Based on the era, the installed 7591 tube is believed to be correct, but this should be verified during servicing.
Overall:
A great candidate for restoration—these early Premier amps have a unique vintage tone and vibe when properly serviced. With the right attention, this could be a fantastic player’s amp or a valuable addition to a vintage collection.
Sold as-is due to its current non-working condition.
