this is a super clean unit i bought for recording my original music 
it was the very first drum machine that had intro and multiple length fill insand sperate volume knobs for various percussion drum instruments   that made it sound very realistic
people that have listened to my recordings thought ti was a real drummer!
this unit does not take hours of programmimg like other drum machines
it is very simple to use with many  variations easily and quickly accessed even in a live gig situation

"What can be said here? A doorstop of a drum machine, this is basically KORG's version of the CR-5000. The KR-55(B) is an amazing little drum machine with classic sounds from the 80's. Non-programmable, but presets can be mixed (up to two), and voices can be added or subtracted to make some complex rhythmic variations. The 55B has different presets from the 55, more disco than rock variations. The swing on both machines is variable through a pot and sounds beautiful. Similarly, the fills and secondary rhythm variations also sound great -- a majority of rhythm IIs on most patterns sound a bit more busy. There is a trig out, but no trig in -- so if you plan to synch this to other machines, then the KR-55 would have to be the brains of the operation, unless you get it modded with a TRIG IN or make it MIDI capable. This isn't too difficult to do and the schematics are online for this really basic modification. IMO the separate outs mod is a must so that you can process the individual voices separately. "
