Pair of modified 70’s Electrodyne 710L preamps with EQ’s in near mint condition with PSU and vintage output transformers!

Another incredible listing from LMM, one I’m in no rush to sell to be honest. Here we have a pair of unbelievably clean vintage Electrodyne 710L Preamps and 2-Band Inductor based Equalizers in excellent and fully functional condition. Fully refurb’d May 2024 with a new 15db boost mod added!

Many of these you find are simply channel strips racked up with input and output and no balanced xformer. I spoke to Ken at Edyne and he states that you can actually damage these over time when you run them without a proper transformer (not to mention they don’t sound as good). These vintage channel strips are internally racked WITH the 24v power supply AND both strips come with extremely desirable vintage Jensen Output Transformers worth about $250 each. The unit has also been racked with separate XLR mic AND line inputs (so 4 in, 2 out on rear). Lastly, the cherry on top is that they were recently further modified with 2 New toggle switches (added May 2024) located on the left side of the chassis, as seen in second and very last pic. This mod gives you a 15db+ boost off the vintage transformer legs!

Adding this pair of magic strips to your stereo mix is an experience you have to hear to believe, right up there with the very best processing in all existence. This unit comes from the same family as Sphere, Quad Eight, Helios and Langevin but reigns supreme as the cleanest, punchiest, most colorful pre’s you’ve ever heard. The EQ’s have been said to be some of the very best ever made on the planet.

The 710’s are VERY rare and hardly show up for sale. They obviously don’t make these anymore so here is a chance to own the pair of one if the most iconic channel strips ever made. It goes without saying the new 500 series and 19” rack stuff sounds almost nothing like an original console channels strip. With consoles exceeding over 100k for a simple 12 channel board, this racked pair are going up in value every day. Don’t get these confused with the new stuff, which is great, but not as good as the real deal vintage 710 L console kit of yesteryear that put them on the map. This is the real McCoy.

These have been kept in my smoke/pet free studio and sound absolutely amazing on any audio source you pass through them. Sonically these are like owning 2 x 501’s and 2 x 511’s combo but with vintage components, thus, that early 1970’s sound of Nel Young, Beatles, and Motown.

- The + 24V PSU is mounted internally, just plug the power cable into the rear of the rack to power both channel strips and you’re ready to go.
